Aligning Community Efforts
Hundreds of organizations in Austin provide services and support to youth. Think about it - schools and school districts, nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, and government agencies provide youth services, through the work of staff and volunteers. Many of these organizations partner effectively with others.
But how does it all fit together? Does everyone ...
- Know what everybody else is doing?
- Collaborate or partner, where appropriate, to leverage resources?
- Feel that all the bases are covered?
- Wish that someone else would take care of some of the gaps?
A comprehensive continuum for youth development helps align ...
- Community goals and indicators
- Collaborations and initiatives
- Service providers and services
- Opportunities for youth
In October 2003, the Youth Advisory Group adapted and adopted the Dashboards for Youth policy framework developed by the Forum for Youth Investment to promote alignment.
Click on the green circles in the cells in the Continuum Framework below to find out about the collaborations and goals for each area. You can also complete a profile for your collaboration to show how your work fits on the continuum.
For blank table cells, no collaboration has submitted a profile yet to describe their goals and work in this area.
Is a group already working on this? Are individual organizations working on this separately? Is this a gap? If you know of a group working on this, please ask them to submit a profile.
